Thoughts on Women’s History Month

Resist. A term commonly in use today. Throughout history, there are notable and noble displays of resistance, including the use of red lipstick by the Allied women in World War II. While she didn’t wear lipstick, Judith Sargent Murray was one of our country’s original resistors. She resisted the constraints put on women in the 18th century—no rights to property or opportunity for education. Judith documented her resistance in her essay “On the Equality of the Sexes.”

During Women’s History Month, we salute Judith Sargent Murray. Writer. Feminist. Activist. Resistor.
